We’re stoked to be taking part in the Shitbox Rally Spring 2027 — a one-of-a-kind event where teams drive cars worth $1,500 or less across some of the most remote and rugged roads in Australia, all in the name of raising money for the Cancer Council.
We’re calling ourselves "Father, Son, and The Holy Shitbox" — a nod to the father/son combo as well as an opportunity to "dress" both the cars and ourselves up for the rally. Stay tuned for more on that!
Together, we’ll be tackling the dust, the breakdowns, and the belly laughs, while celebrating the spirit of family and the power of sticking together through thick and thin.
Our weapon of choice? A 2009 Ford BF Falcon Wagon — not exactly a luxury ride, but she’s got enough character (and rust) to qualify. The route will take us all the way from the Albury/Wodonga to far north Queensland, through some iconic Aussie towns:
Albury-Wodonga, VIC/NSW - 13th August 2027
Booligal, NSW - 14th August 2027
White Cliffs, NSW - 15th August 2027
Cameron Corner SA/NSW/QLD - 16th August 2027
Eromanga, QLD - 17th August 2027
Ilfracombe, QLD - 18th August 2027
Belyando Crossing, QLD - 19th August 2027
Mackay, QLD - 20th August 2027
This rally isn’t about speed or style — it’s about endurance, community, and raising much-needed funds for cancer research.
Cancer has touched our lives and the lives of many we care about, which is why this cause means so much to us. We’ve set a modest goal of $15000, but with your help, we reckon we can smash right through it!
Every dollar raised helps the Cancer Council continue their incredible work in research, prevention, and support. If you can chip in — whether it’s a donation, a kind word, or just sharing our story — we’d be over the moon. Together, we’re driving towards a cancer-free future — one bumpy road at a time.
We’ll be posting updates here as well as to Instagram (fathersonholyshitbox_sbr) so you can follow along and be part of the ride.
Thanks so much for your support — we can’t wait to take you along for the journey.
Cheers,
Ian and Kane
Father, Son, and The Holy Shitbox are driving a $1,500 car from Albury-Wodonga to Mackay to raise money for Cancer Council
They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.

Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
